Operation-Christmas-ChildToday we are dedicating 30 shoeboxes for the Operation Christmas Child program, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. We had a delightful packing party last Sunday afternoon wrapping and assembling these boxes. Thank you to all those people who donated items to put in the boxes, to our crew of industrious packers, and Patty Cardin for providing lunch for the packers. This coming week, these shoeboxes will be delivered to a collection station and then be shipped to the main warehouse in North Carolina. From there, they will be transported all over the world to children in war-torn and impoverished areas.

We also appreciate the persons who have already contributed to help defray the shipping costs of sending these boxes throughout the world. Samaritan’s Purse suggests a donation of $7.00 per box. We have received donations (including our children’s Sunday School offering) of $79.50 thus far and hope to reach $210.00. If you would like to make a donation, you can make a check out to Sarah Jane Johnson UMYF or put a cash contribution in an offering envelope and indicate Operation Christmas Child on the check or envelope. Thank you for your support.
